Olivier GiroudOn the Spot: Olivier Giroud
The French international who currently plies his trade for Arsenal, has been a huge hit this season at the Emirates. Despite missing three months worth of action, he has an astounding 13 goals in his short time on the field. Giroud started off his career in the French Ligue 2, and absolutely dominated. His big switch to Ligue 1 came when he returned from a loan spell away from Montpellier, scoring 12 goals in all competitions for the club. In 2011-12, Giroud scored 21 goals to become the league’s top goal scorer, which attracted tons of interest overseas, including one London club.

He completed his switch to Arsenal in the summer of 2012. He struggled for the club in his first season and the start of 2013-14 got much better for Giroud by scoring 16 goals in the Premier League. Known for his “meaty French forehead”, the six foot, four inch striker is always a threat around the penalty area and causes trouble for any opponent’s defense.
