Presented as a dark alternative to the bright yellow of the home jersey, Nike has announced Brazil’s national team third kit. This is the first time the Oregon-based company has designed a third kit for Brazil and they picked the perfect time to do it. With the eyes of the world fixed on the World Cup host nation come June, Nike has given them apparel that will allow the team and their supporters to represent Brazil in pride.
The color name is Black Spruce with Black Pine, so you can tell it’s a dark turn compared to the vibrant yellows and blues of past Brazil kits. The entire kit is covered in about a dark a forest or pine green as you can get. However, the vivid yellow accents keep this from being a gloomy affair. The Brazilian “CBF” national team crest is a dazzling yellow on the upper left chest. The dark hue of the jersey allows the crest and Nike swooshes to stand out in a bold way.
The shorts also feature the crest and the Nike emblem in a bright yellow, but thin horizontal stripes with a blend of blue, green, and yellow (colors that reference the national flag) stretch across the width of the shorts, which adds some extra style. Designed as a kind of homage to the sport of surfing – a different beloved Brazilian activity – the shorts are a bit longer than normal football shorts. Lastly, the socks are that same shade of dark green with the yellow Nike swoosh on each shin.
The kit’s technical aspects run similar to the other Nike jerseys that have been released in the last few months. Tiny, laser-cut holes ventilate each side to allow for ultimate circulation during play (or hot days in the stands). There is also dual knit fabrication that uses cotton and recycled polyester to keep the material as dry as possible. It is undoubtedly another quality kit from Nike, perfect for kicking it around on the pitch or cheering in the stadium. The third kit goes on sale February 20th.
