Portugal home kit group

Celebrating their 100th year of national team soccer, Portugal will be looking to bring home their first World Cup title in their sister country, Brazil. Now is the time for Portugal because who knows how much longer they will have Cristiano Ronaldo playing at his top form. He has almost single-handedly, carried this squad into the World Cup, especially because of his 3 goals against Sweden in the playoff draw. Now they are pitted in the group of death along with the U.S., Germany, and Ghana. Sorry Ronaldo fans, even though I like him too, I hope the U.S. creams Portugal. However, we can get the best of both worlds if Germany happens to stumble along the way. If the group standing were based on style of the jersey, Portugal would win by far. Let’s see why.

Portugal is always known for their reddish-maroon colors so why not put both into the same top. The design on this shirt features maroon stripes that slowly get thicker as you get to the bottom and then eventually turns into an all maroon bottom. In my opinion, this top flows seamlessly from top to bottom. Like Ronaldo needed to look anymore stylish! Nike will apologize for all you guys watching Portugal play with your girlfriends. As well, the colors and sleeves are finished off in green trim so the top features all the colors of the Portuguese flag.

The Nike swoosh symbol and Portuguese football crest are woven into the top to ensure that it is extreme durable and looks pretty awesome. The golds and reds on the crest sparkle quite nicely against the top. 1914 and 2014 are woven on the bottom right and left of the crest, which symbolize the 100-year history of Portuguese soccer. Even though they have had numerous skilled players, the country has never once hoisted a World Cup or a EURO trophy. With the jersey costing $149.99 retail, or $134.99 at SoccerPro.com, it does not disappoint with its features.

This top is as light as a feather, while still being extremely durable. This is due in part because of the perforated holes throughout the back on the jersey. As well, the side vents on the jersey will help any heat or moisture release from your body during a long practice or match. Let’s just hope you are working as hard as Ronaldo. The rest of this home is finished off with all red shorts and socks to stay consistent with the top. Overall, this kit may not be a drastic change from previous kits, yet it is still one of my favorites.
