Under Armour have been making noise in the soccer world ever since they sealed that massive kit supplier deal with Tottenham Hotspur. In March, it was announced that the American brand would be the boot of choice for none other than rising star Memphis Depay, who is headed to Old Trafford this summer in a huge deal to play for Manchester United. Finally, today UA announced that Depay will be headlining their brand new SpeedForm silo. Memphis has been spotted testing them and wearing the launch colorway in his last game for PSV Eindhoven. Here is what he had to say about the launch of the new silo:

“The UA SpeedForm boots were amazing from the first time out of the box. Speed is one of my greatest assets and the fit and comfort of these boots allow me to react and move without even thinking.”

The 7.4 ounce SpeedForm boot features a low profile heel cup that fits right on your heel for a snug fit and a one piece synthetic upper to get you to as close to the ball as possible while providing a custom fit for your feet. The outsole is made out of a lightweight, chrome pebax material. An interesting thing about these is that there is no sock liner in order to help the connection from the ground and cleat more seamless while allowing more acceleration and explosiveness. The toe box is soccer’s first ever articulated one, which UA claims will allow the boot to mold perfectly to any player’s foot.

UA boldly claim that this boot will change the standard for speed boots made for the world’s fastest players. Well when these release on June 1st in the US, we will let you know here on The Instep if that is in fact the truth.

What do you think of UA’s new release? Would you prefer this boot over a Vapor or F50?
