Oh football, how we have missed you. From the controversy to the spectacular football and everything in between, there is nothing like having vintage European football on our screens once again. But there is only one way to recap your weekend of football, and The Instep is here with our weekly boot spotting round up. There was plenty that caught the eye this week from all over Europe, check out the biggest boot spots of the week now!

James Rodriguez (Real Madrid) – adidas Yohji Yamamoto F50 adiZero LE

James Rodriguez Real Madrid Yamamoto F50 edited

It is not too often that a manufacturer goes to a world renowned fashion icon to produce a football kit, but if anyone was going to be on the end of such a massive collab, it may as well be for the club that has some of the world’s biggest stars on it’s books. In celebrating the launch of the Yamamoto Real Madrid third kit, designer Yohji Yamamoto also released an all new limited edition F50 adiZero, which was worn by James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale and Marcelo at the kit’s launch. Look at the teeth on those boots though, I reckon Luis Suarez should give the boots a go…

Miles Storey (Portsmouth) – Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly IV

Miles Storey Portsmouth SF IV edited

Headline athlete Cristiano Ronaldo may have sat out Madrid’s game this week with injury, and while that meant that Nike could not show off their latest colourway on the feet of one of the world’s top players, the all-new ‘Electric Green’ Superfly IV did get some representation on the pitches of Europe…albeit with a player in the fourth division of English football. Miles Storey pulled out the new Superfly IV when Stoke took on Portsmouth in the Capital One Cup. Just to think, that would have been a Premier League fixture just 4 years ago…

Paul Pogba (Juventus) – adidas Predator Instinct Accelerator LE

Paul Pogba Juventus Instinct Accelerator edited

Limited edition? Meh. Paul Pogba is perhaps the envy of many a football boot collector by being one of just under 2,000 pairs of the adidas Predator Instinct Accelerator LE, the boot that tugs the heartstrings with a throwback to arguably the greatest Predator of all time. Paul Pogba has only just switched to adidas after his stint with Nike, where he wore the Nike CTR360 Maestri III last season in Juventus colours. But he has gone back into a classic boot on his return to the three stripes.

Jonathan Walters (Stoke City) – adidas Copa Mundial

Jonathan Walters Stoke whiteout Copa edited

We have to give credit to Jonathan Walters, the man has taste when it comes to football boots. The Stoke midfielder always pops up now and again with something a little different, but we have noticed his love for the football boot that we can arguably see as ‘genesis’, the Copa Mundial. Walters has managed to get his hands on the recently released whiteout Copa Mundial, and very few boots ooze class as much as the Copa Mundial. Blackout and whiteout models being released often mean the end of a boot before it gets updated, perhaps the much-loved Copa may be getting a modern facelift soon.

Jasmin Handanovic (NC Maribor) – Nike Tiempo Legend V (Custom)

Jasmin Handanovic NK Maribor custom Tiempo V edited

Whenever stars go out to get a customised boot on NikeiD, normally it is to make a custom Vapor or Magista Opus, but very rarely do we see a star opt to get a customised Tiempo Legend V. Sticking with the striking two block template that Nike have been riding with the Tiempo V, NC Maribor’s Jasmin Handanovic showed off a Black/Aqua NikeiD creation while he was between the sticks during his side’s midweek Europa League qualifier against Celtic.

Eunan O’Kane (Bournemouth) – adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 (Custom)

Eunan O'Kane Bournemouth custom NC edited

You know us by now, colour co-ordination is one of the kings of the SoccerPro boot spotting, and you will have to go a long way to find a player who has perfectly matched his boots with his kit as Eunan O’Kane. His Red/Black Nitrocharge 1.0 matched up perfectly with his Bournemouth home kit, but Eunan O’Kane has perhaps spent a lot of money on a pair of boots when he could have got the Predator Red/Black Instinct, which would look just as good with the Bournemouth kit…

Scott McDonald (Millwall) – adidas Predator Instinct Accelerator LE

Scott McDonald Millwall Predator Instinct Accelerator LE edited

Paul Pogba was not the only player spotted in the Accelerator throwback boot, with Millwall’s Scott McDonald also managing to get his hands on the prized boots. While Paul Pogba was probably able to convince the higher powers of adidas to send him a pair of the boots, Scott McDonald probably does not have the same power as the Frenchman. He probably got the boots like us regular folk, which meant getting them before they sold out in record time. Man, McDonald was lucky to get them though…
