Action, action, action, that is the best way to describe the week of football we have just seen. With 20 games of sweet, sweet EPL between the last boot spotting and today, some amazing European football action and transfer deadline day, you just have to love this time of year! So what did we do this week? Well of course, we have rounded up the best boot spots from the week past. From a few boot switches, custom boots, retro boots, this boot spotting has it all! Check it out in the first boot spotting on the web, every week…

Robin Van Persie (Manchester United) – adidas F50 adiZero TRX (Custom)

Robin Van Persie Manchester United custom F50 edited

Robin Van Persie wore the new F50 adiZero for the first time this week…except he is not really wearing the new F50 adiZero at the same time. While the Dutchman’s boots are similar to the general design of the F50 adiZero, adidas made some wholesale changes to the boot to fit Van Persie’s tastes, including a different outsole and an alteration to the soleplate. Van Persie’s adiZeros largely mirror the Predator adiPower, which shows how much of a connection the striker still has with the adiPower. To be fair, it was a pretty damn good boot…

Darvydas Sernas (Perth Glory) – adidas Predator LZ SL

Darvydas Sernas Perth Glory Predator LZ SL edited

Adidas are really riding on this Samba theme aren’t they? After the release of the original Samba pack, adidas released a set of Predator LZ SL and Copa Mundial colourways that have a bit of Brazilian flair about it. Perth Glory’s Darvydas Sernas is the first player we have seen in the new Predator LZ SL, a boot that seems to have that same eye-catching quality we have seen from many Predator SL releases of the past, especially with that colourful facade highlighting the Lethal Zones of the boot.

Ezequiel Lavezzi (PSG) – adidas F50 adiZero TRX

Ezequiel Lavezzi PSG F50 adiZero edited

There is nothing wrong with a boot switch, but it is not too often that we see a player who was elevated as a headliner for one boot range less than a year ago switch into a completely different boot. Lavezzi headlined (what was) the new adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 alongside stars like Daniele De Rossi and Dani Alves, but now the PSG striker has made the change to the new F50 adiZero. While we did not see it coming, it is a logical switch for Lavezzi considering he was a fan of the F50 range back when he wore Napoli colours.

Dimitra Poulos (Western Sydney Wanderers) – Nike Mercurial Vapor VI (Custom)

Dimitra Poulos Western Sydney Wanderers Vapor VI edited

Remember the Nike World Cup pack released almost four years ago now? That was a cracker of a release hey? So much so that Andrew has a sudden need to buy all the boots to re-make the collection (not a good idea kids, although if someone has the Nike Tiempo Legend III Elite in the WC colourway, Andrew would love to hear from you…). Dimitra Poulos has held on to her Vapor VI from the WC pack, but it seems she has cut the lace cover off of her boots, making her boots look the Superfly II bar the Flywire and SenseStud. Nike always prepare colourway packs for the World Cup, so watch this space for their pack of boots come the World Cup!

Liam Bridcutt (Sunderland) – adidas Predator LZ II

Liam Bridcutt Sunderland Predator LZ edited

Remember how I mentioned adidas released x boots between the end of November up until now (not including the Samba Copa Mundial colourways)? The blackout Predator LZ II with a touch of orange on the tongue of the boot is not a colourway we have seen on the pitch too often. In fact, Sunderland’s Liam Bridcutt is the first player we have seen on the pitch wearing the boot. Adidas always love a blackout release, but this is the last blackout colourway we expect to see between now and the release of the next generation Predator later this year.

Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City) – Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

Ahmed Elmohamady Crystal Palace Vapor IX edited

Spotting a player wearing a boot from the Nike Reflective pack in the Premier League has been as common goals scored by Tom Huddlestone, but Ahmed Elmohamady has become only the second Premier League player to be seen in a boot from the collection. With Stoke’s Jonathan Walters rocking the Tiempo release, Elmohamady is the only player in the EPL wearing the Mercurial version of the Reflective boot. The boots look so smart on the pitch, it truly is a wonder to us as to why so few players have been wearing the boots…

Fabian Rinaudo (Calcio Catania) – Puma King Pro

Fabian Rinaudo Calcio Catania Puma King Pro edited

Sometimes, you can never knock back a classic. Despite wearing the current Puma King this seson, Fabian Rinaudo has backtracked to a classic, and very few boots fit the idea of a heritage boot more so than the Puma King Pro. Crafted from the best K-Leather (back in the days of the Puma King actually being made from K-Leather), the Puma King Pro stands shoulder to shoulder with the adidas Copa Mundial as the forefather of modern day boots. It is good to see Fabian Rinaudo bringing back a legend!

David Jones (Burnley) – adidas Predator LZ II (Custom)

David Jones Burnley custom LZ edited

White boots, forever classy, and always will be. Which is why you can see the logic behind David Jones’ miadidas creation, a simple White/Blue Predator LZ II that reminds us a little of the white and blue DB Predator PowerSwerve. Now that’s we think of it, we have not seen too many white Predator LZ II colourways released by adidas, perhaps it is the next colour adidas will be flirting with next…
