Adidas Copa MundialAlthough we typically have to wait until a World Cup year to start getting major boot releases and incredible colorway updates, adidas have decided to treat us to one of the biggest colorway updates/releases in the entirety of modern football gear.  The world’s most famous football boot is getting a new coat of paint, and it is trading in the classic black of yesteryear for a brand new sheen of white.

Since the early 80’s, the Copa has been used by nearly every famous footballer, quality reviewer, and avid recreational player and has been met with a level of love that no other football boot can claim.  Ask any player that has been playing the game for more than ten years or any player who had their glory days in the late 80’s/early 90’s and they will have a “Copa story.”  A tale about a boot that was their favorite boot and a quality product that they wish the current market had more of.  Considering over 10 million of the Copa have sold since its release in 1982, it is not surprising that it has a deep hold in the hearts of nearly every footballer.

On top of being an icon to the everyday footballer, the Copa was the last amazing product that adidas founder Adi Dassler was involved in before he passed away in 1982.  The history of the Copa runs deep within football and it runs deep within adidas.COPA_MUNDIAL_WHITE_LEAD_IMAGE

Because of the deep ties to everyone involved with the Copa, adidas will be releasing a limited number of pairs in the white colorway with black adidas stripes.  The kangaroo leather upper will remain, along with the classic stud pattern and aesthetics that the Copa has boasted for the last thirty years.  A quality boot that is crafted in Germany, very close to the actual adidas headquarters, the Copa is the absolute definition of quality craftsmanship and classic looks.

Considering Nike’s recent release of their so-called “Copa killer” in the Nike Premier, it is not surprising to see adidas giving a slight update to the Copa.  There are even rumors that more colors will be available during the WC year, but those rumors have yet to be confirmed.  One thing is certain, this will be a boot that is highly sought after by collectors and footballing purists alike.  Actually, two things are certain, that everyone in football will love this boot and that I will be definitely ordering one.
