Nike Tech Craft Pack in Volt and Canvas

Nike continues to impress us with new releases that combine the old and the new. The Tech Craft Pack is back and, this time Nike has added a bit more flair to the look. Combining a tan color that Nike is calling “Canvas” with the vibrant yellow that we have become accustom to seeing on most Nike boots, “Volt”. When I first saw the photos of the boots I thought that the cleats looked hideous. But after a few hours of seeing them all over the web, I actually really like them.

Nike has given the leather treatment to all of their top boots just like the first Tech Craft Pack. For the Flyknit boots, a thin layer of premium leather is applied over the Flyknit or the NikeSkin depending on if it is the Superfly, Obra, or Phantom. This is supposed to keep the same feel as the standard boots, while adding a premium touch with the leather on top. The first Tech Craft did the same thing and it has received outstanding feedback from players who have purchased the cleats.

The low cut boots are made a little different than the Dynamic Fit Collar cleats. The Vapor, Phinish, and Opus actually feature a leather upper that is more like a traditional leather boot. It does feature the same construction as a normal release with leather added over the normal construction. This would be a more normal feeling leather boot compared to the Superfly, per say. The Vapor X with a leather upper is something many boot fans have been wanting. It is many attacking players’ dream cleat since it combines the lightweight boot with a nice soft touch.

If you were expecting the Tiempo to be any different, you may be slightly right but it’s not a huge difference. The upper is slightly softer than the normal K-Leather upper found on the standard Legend V. The Tiempo is unchanged for the most part, but as the saying goes “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

The last Tech Pack saw some play time at the professional ranks with Alexis Sanchez leading the way with his Tech Craft Superfly. Bakary Sako also wore the Superfly with Crystal Palace. Several players wore the Legend V Tech Craft colorway, including Francis Coquelin back in August. Can you believe the old Tech Craft Pack came out back in August? It feels like that just came out!

I think the colorway will grow on you if you are not feeling it right now. The Volt and Canvas work really well together and I can’t wait to see what a pair looks like in person. Combining the timeless touch of leather to the ever-innovating materials of today’s market creates a boot that we have all been wanting Nike to create since the release of Flyknit boots in summer of 2014.
