Puma evoPOWER and evoSPEED SL Tricks

Puma have released another vividly colored pair of Tricks boots, this time for the evoSPEED 1.4 SL and evoPOWER 1.2. These are arguably the brightest looking pair of Tricks boots released by Puma since the color schemes revival by the brand for the 2014 World Cup. These are a little bit different though.

Puma are calling these H2H, or Head to Head, as the boots mirror each other. The right boot on the SL features an orange color called Orange Clown Fish that also has some lighter orange graphics on the upper. The Puma logo on the outside is a solid blue color. The outsole on the right boot is a solid orange color with the back studs leading into a lighter orange on the tips. The front studs lead into a clear tip, which is personally something I like in a soccer cleat as I think it adds a small premium feel to the soleplate. This would be the left foot on the evoPOWER to give the mirror effect for the boots. So if you are catching what’s going on, just flip which foot this color was on for the other boot.

Just like the Orange color, the other color also mirrors for the other silo. The blue boot color is called Electric Blue Lemonade and has a mix of a darker and lighter blues in a sunrise effect. The Puma outline on the blue is the same bright orange that is found on the right boot. Not everyone is a fan of the Tricks collection from Puma but I have found myself a fan of each release so far. The contrasting colors and the idea of having one boot a vibrant orange and the more subtle blue. As you may have guessed, this blue color would be the right cleat on the evoPOWER.

The evoSPEED SL is a boot that has many people talking. Weighing in at just over 100g, the SL is made for your best days and should only be worn only in big matches. The upper is held up by a minimal Speedframe, which is visible from the outside of the boots because the upper is so thin. The Speedtrack spine is still found on the sole but it is extremely small. The new stud pattern is brand new and is designed to shed as much weight as possible. One player who has worn these boots is Sergio Aguero. Aguero has decided to play in what I assume is a few different pairs of the SL instead of the standard evoSPEED.

The evoPOWER is one of the most popular cleats for players of all levels of soccer. The AdapLite upper is incredibly flexible and stays close to your foot, bending it while striking the ball. The AccuFoam that is found on the AdapLite upper helps in adding a little extra padding to keep you comfortable while passing and shooting. The soleplate is made of Pebax that is rigid under your midfoot back while allowing flexibility in your toe area to give you a more natural striking sensation. Two extremely powerful players, Yaya Toure and Mario Balotelli both use the evoPOWER.
