Just a few weeks after releasing the Samba edition of their Predator LZ, adidas has given their Predator LZ SL (that’s Super Light) two new color updates. If you’re looking for a lighter version of the Predator LZ and don’t mind making your pocket a little lighter too, then you have probably looked into the LZ SL. Of course you still get the Lethal Zones that come with the regular Predator LZ, but these come in at 7.0 oz (199 grams), almost a full ounce less than previous Predators. However, you will have to fork over some extra cash. These come into the market at a retail price of $250 (or $225 at SoccerPro). Essentially, you’re paying more for less here, but if a lighter cleat will make you more likely to fly down the sideline and past a fullback, then it might be worth it.

Adidas continues their Brazil-inspired color updates on the SL as well. If you like the darker look on a boot, then Black with Solar Slime is for you. “Slime” isn’t a word I usually like to see when I’m making a purchase, but adidas has used it for their recent Samba pack Predator LZ and the Nitrocharge, and now on the Predator LZ SL.

The second color update is the White with Silver, which is a bit misleading considering this boot has red, orange, and yellow sprinkled on the upper. Still, if you like white boots and don’t mind the splash of bright color then this will be your choice. I prefer the contrast of the vivid hues on the black cleat here, but they will both allow you to stand out on the pitch with a quality looking boot.

As adidas forges on with their strategy of making bright, multi-colored spectacles of their shoes to put us in a Brazilian mindset before the World Cup, the high-end Predator LZ SLs get an update that fits right in with the new kids.
