German international and Arsenal star, Mesut Özil has come a long way to become Arsenals star. Beginning his career at several small youth academies in Germany, he landed at Schalkes academy for one season before breaking into the first team. After what was an astounding debut season, Özil surprisingly turned down the contract extension and moved to rivals Werder Bremen. In his two and half years at the club, he dominated the midfield in the Bundesliga and helped the club finish 3rd and qualified for the Champions League. Özil however would not be there for the clubs next season as he made a 15 million euro move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
During his time at Madrid, Özil became a world famous player for his impressive performances. In the summer of 2012, Madrid brought in Luka Modric and it looked as if Özil was going to be pushed out of the club. He made only 23 appearances before moving to London for a 42.4 million pound fee.
