One of the best defenders in the world currently plies his trade for the best club in France in PSG. But Silva was not always seen as one of the top players on the world. As a youth player, he experienced unsuccessful trials at Brazilian clubs Fluminese and Botafogo. He was highly scouted by European clubs for his performances in youth tournaments but ultimately decided to stay in Brazil and play for Juventude. At 20, he had developed into one of the best young defenders in the world and moved abroad to FC Porto. He was unable to break into the first team in 2 years at the club and decided to move to Dinamo Moscow. Silva experienced some health issues and almost decided to hang up his boots and call it a career.
He moved back to Brazil and had another solid season in South America. AC Milan came calling and the then 25-year-old center back moved to Italy to revitalize his European career. Silva turned into one of the most sought after defenders in the world in his 3 years in Milan and made a 42 million euro move to PSG.
