Team Australia Takes a New Home Kit (and Low Expectations) Into World Cup

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oy, Oy, Oy! The Socceroos are in the World Cup for the 3rd consectuive time, having only been once before the streak. They don’t have the easiest round to the knockout stage because of being placed into a group with Spain, Chile, and the Netherlands. Having the two finalists of the last World Cup in the same group provides an enormous challenge. However, Tim Cahill leads this squad as they try to surprise everyone this summer. I know that if you are a huge fan of the Australians, then your expectations are not too high. Although given how much parody there is around the world, just about anything can happen.

The Austalians have released a new home jersey that the team from down under will be sporting in Brazil this summer. This jersey contains the original yellow and green colors that have been in all the Australian home jerseys since 1974. On this top, yellow covers the majority, but the green collar and sleeve cuffs give it a nice looking finish. The Henley collar provides a sophisticated appearance so you can be looking nice while wearing this jersey around the town.

This jersey comes in at $90.00 retail, orĀ only $80.99 at With all the features that this jersey has, I believe this retail value makes it a must buy. The flat knit rib cuff, set-in sleeves, and side seam overlock with top stitch give it a nice comfortable fit. Cahill and the rest of the squad will have no excuse to not play at their high ability (excluding playing against the 1st, 10th, and 14th-ranked teams in the World). As well, the Australian crest, featuring the all familiar kangaroo and emu, which are native to the country, is woven in the jersey to ensure its durability. Also, the Nike Swoosh is woven in green on the other side of the chest.

Along with the green shorts and white socks, this entire home kit is made with 100% polyester. The 100% polyester material make the top really lightweight, which I’m sure will keep whoever is wearing it nice and cool even in the heat of the outback. So why not grab this jersey to root on the famous Socceroos.
