Done Deals

Stevan Jovetic

Jovetic moves from the Ethiad to Italy on a year and a half loan deal. Inter Milan continue to bring in quality signings over the past few windows, and Jovetic is still a relatively young guy, leading them to get an option to buy the player at the end of the loan. His time at Manchester City wasn’t what a lot had hoped for, but this transfer to Inter will be a chance at revival.

Rickie Lambert

The Liverpool man made the move to West Brom for an undisclosed fee. The 33-year-old hopes he still has some left in the tank, and will try and elevate West Brom to a top 4 finish. A tall task, but Lambert has made his rounds in the Premier League. His move to West Brom might signal the end of his career, but it might also be a chance to elevate a middling club.

Vlad Chiriches

The Romanian centreback is making the move from Tottenham to Napoli. While always entertaining in England, the Bat Vlad saw the additions of multiple backs at Tottenham, and sought a move away from White Hart Lane. Napoli were the suitors, and he jumped at the chance to compete in Serie A. Interesting deal for both sides, but will likely benefit every party involved.

Strong Links

Angel Di Maria

The rumors seem to be true, with an alleged medical scheduled at PSG. No one seems to know exactly what spurred the move, but it seems to be going through, with United taking a hit on the price. The Argentine will join a star-studded side in France, with the opportunity to play his former club in the Champions League.

Aron Johannsson

The 24-year-old American has a medical scheduled at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. AZ and Werder Bremen have come to an agreed price that is around the neighborhood of 5 million euros. If the medical goes as planned, only the personal terms between Johannsson and his new club are left to finish the move. There were talks of Johannsson making the move to MLS, but it seems Europe is where he will be staying. So long as Jurgen Klinsmann is coach of the US national team, a move to the Bundesliga looks like a better international career choice.

Gaining Traction

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Two fronts for this rumor. Zlatan has openly admitted that he would like to play in the MLS one day, while AC Milan have very publicly been pining for their former player. Ibra has had a few spats with the French media and culture. The Di Maria transfer might just spur this one along. Pretty dependent on the Di Maria move, but we will go from there.

Blockbuster Possibility That is Getting Repetitive

Manchester United want Gareth Bale. Real Madrid want David De Gea. This tale has been going for months and months. It died down for awhile when there were rumors of Sergio Ramos and Thomas Muller perhaps making their way to old Trafford, but those rumors are dead. So of course, we revisit the De Gea/Bale saga. Obviously there is no way that Real Madrid would agree to a straight swap without cash, but the Spanish club is running out of chances to nab a top-notch keeper. United are smitten with Bale, and have made their intentions known. I’d be very surprised if this happens, but crazier things have happened before.

Who Knows?

Karim Benzema

Arsene Wenger loves him some fellow Frenchmen. This time, it happens to be Karim Benzema. Arsenal have allegedly named him a top priority on the transfer market, and are willing to spend the cash to get him. Real Madrid may not want him to go, but might also want to cash in on him. There are plenty of reports that emerge from Madrid of players not being happy with Cristiano Ronaldo’s blame game, but Benzema hasn’t been vocal about it. It would be a real shock if Real Madrid let him go, but if that is the cost to get David De Gea, they will pack Benzema’s bag for him.
