Inside the Nike Superfly CR7 Chapter 3

Nike and CR7 have a beautiful marriage that always seems to perfectly blend the complexity of the Portuguese star’s personality and flair into his signature Mercurial CR7 boots. If you have been following the Madrid man’s career, you know that he has had two previous boots released that follow a chapter in his career. Chapter 1 was dubbed Savage Beauty for the island he grew up on that had an active volcano while also showing his personality and playing style. Chapter 2 was called Natural Diamond, which showed all of the hard work, he put into his game and how it ultimately paid off. Now Chapter 3: Discovery pays homage to his discovery by Manchester United in a friendly against the club.

The colorway is supposed to be inspired from the Sporting Lisbon colors with the official colorway named Seaweed and Volt. The Superfly features the Seaweed colors on the outside of the foot with the Volt Nike swoosh adding some contrast. Little white dots are found along the ridges of the upper to create a metal look that creates a wave which is in honor of the Vapor 1 boots he wore in 2003. The Seaweed color continues on the other side inside the ridges with Volt making up the rest of the inside of the foot. The soleplate is a solid white color with Volt collared tips. The sock and heel are Seaweed colored with a lighter gray on top of the collar. The lighter gray returns on the heel tab going up in smaller lines to the tab. The date 06/08/03 is in Volt which is tribute to Ronaldo’s discovery from Manchester United in a friendly on that date. On the inside of the shoe, we see Lisbon’s Jose Alvalade Stadium.

Ronaldo helped create 2 goals in a 3-1 win for Lisbon against Manchester United in that friendly. Around a week later, Ronaldo was announced as a signing for United and the rest was history. The tech specs on the CR7 Superfly remain the same as a standard Superfly V release so the colorway is the only difference from a standard release.
