Nike White Pack

After the success of last year’s white Reflective Pack and the more recent black Stealth Pack, Nike returns with another white release, the Shine Through Collection. All four of Nike’s key silos get a pearlized treatment that hearkens back to the days when soccer boots began to bust out of the conventional black look in the 1970s. Forty years later, they look as fresh as ever.

The standout white aesthetic was inspired by the color palette at New Year’s Eve celebrations in Brazil, with Nike continuing Brazil-themed boots after last summer’s World Cup. Ano Novo is one of Brazil’s most joyous holidays. Those that gather on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro are treated to a wondrous firework display. They wear white to bring good luck into the next year, with the colorfully bright pops of fireworks enhancing the clean purity of their white clothes. The fantastic energy, atmosphere, and visuals of this celebration has driven Nike to craft their new boots with the New Year in mind.

Every silo looks classy as all get-out here. The Mercurial Superfly may be the most diverse of the bunch. It has a stark black Dynamic Fit Collar, a Hyper Punch Swoosh, and a yellow-green outsole. If you’ve been waiting on a white Superfly, your time has come. The Vapor X looks similar, yet somehow even sleeker, without the Flyknit and Brio cables that run through the Superfly’s upper.

Next up, the Magista Obra has been given a green and orange Swoosh, with a green outsole. Its understudy, the Opus, has a homogeneous silhouette, just without the black Dynamic Fit Collar.

The leather, heritage-look Tiempo Legend V gets a sweet white upper and Volt outsole, with a blue and volt Nike Swoosh on either side. Depending on how you feel about white leather cleats, this may be your new favorite Tiempo colorway.

Lastly, with its gorgeous red and blue Swooshes wrapping around the front and rear of the boot, the new Hypervenom might take the cake for this White Pack. The white textures on the Phantom’s Nikeskin upper look magnificent, especially when contrasted with the vibrant blue outsole. For me, Nike’s Neymar-led, attack-minded Hypervenom line wins this round.
