Green Tiempo Legacys

The Tiempo lineup has always intrigued me since it was released. Professionals in many different positions from goalkeepers to strikers are wearing the leather silo from Nike. When the boots arrived I was surprised how soft the leather was from right of the box. When slipping these onto my feet I noticed how comfortable they were without even having any break in time. After being impressed straight away, I could not wait to see how the boots perform after some testing.

The Look

Nike Tiempo Legacy

Part of the Silver Storm Pack from Nike, the Tiempo Legacy also features the mainly gray upper that looks great on any of the Nike boots. The green accents really make the boot really pop while the gray upper keeps the boot subtle so you really are getting the best of both worlds in terms of looks. This colorway is by far my favorite from the Tiempo and we have seen some great colors, like the recent black and green from the Tech Craft Pack. I was skeptical at first but once you have seen this colorway in person I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

The Touch

Tiempo Legacy leather

Once I was able to take the Legacy onto the field, I noticed that I felt comfortable enough to play in these shoes right away. The high quality calf skin leather is great and incredibly soft, which is something I was not expecting right out of the box. The leather stretches from the top two lace holes across to the other side and the top two lace holes on the instep.

Something else I was not expecting was how thin the leather is. It is a nice medium between something like an 11Pro and a more traditional leather boot. The reason that the leather is able to stay so thin is because of the Hypershield lining found on the inside of the boot. The honeycomb shaped mesh is found underneath the leather inside the boot and it gives the leather a support layer as well as keeping the shoe dry for longer by not absorbing as much water when wet. I also found that this feature added the comfort of the boot so I am a fan of Hypershield technology.

The stud pattern features a majority of conical studs in the forefoot and thicker bladed studs in the back. This is by far my favorite soleplate on the market today. I experienced zero stud pressure or discomfort with the Legacy so if you are looking for a comfortable boot, the Legacy should at least make your list. I play striker normally so normally I reach for the Hypervenom Phantom when heading out to the pitch for a match. I played in the Legacy and I actually found myself preferring the natural feel and touch of the leather upper with my strikes and I enjoyed having that slight bit of extra protection. I am not alone in that thinking as Liverpool star Christian Benteke also prefers to wear a Tiempo boot while playing striker.

The Tiempo most suits players who require that extra bit of touch on the ball to help them control the ball more naturally on the field. Defenders and midfielders will prefer this boot when playing instead of a thinner synthetic because the touch and protection are a huge help in those positions. The Legacy is a perfect mix of the traditional feel you want from a leather soccer shoe while seamlessly intertwining modern innovation. The Legacy will continue to be in my boot bag for the foreseeable future. A great step down boot from Nike.

The Feel

Nike Tiempo Legacy outsole

The Tiempo Legacy is extremely soft once you spend some time in the boot and offers a really nice feel for the ball. The leather is thinner than something you would find on a more traditional style boot like the Nike Premier or the Umbro Speciali Eternal. The stud pattern found on the Legacy is a favorite among professionals and for good reason. I experienced zero stud pressure and it added to the already comfortable cleat. No complaints from me in terms of comfort and feel for the Legacy.

Bang For Your Buck

The Legacy comes in at only $100 and for me that is a steal for a boot of this quality. No, you do not get the All Conditions Control found on the Legend but you still get a great leather upper and the Hypershield lining for half the price of the Legend. If you want an even better deal, head over to SoccerPro and get the Legacy for only $89.99. For the price of one Legend, you can own two Legacy’s.

Who’s Wearing It?

While no professional is wearing the Legacy, many are wearing the Legend as it has proven to be a great boot. Andrea Pirlo, Christian Benteke, and Francesco Totti wear the Tiempo lineup, among others. Many players enjoy having a leather boot with a more modern comfortable soleplate.

The Verdict

Tech Craft and Silver Storm Tiempo Legacy

The Nike Tiempo Legacy has become my favorite take down cleat on the market today. For the money you pay and the leather you receive, the Legacy is more than worth it. The Legend is an amazing boot but if you do not want to pay the Legend price, then give the Legacy a look. The Legacy has quickly become one of my first choice cleats to grab when heading to the field because of the classic and modern qualities that are perfectly crafted into one boot. Don’t think just because the Legacy is labeled as a take down model you will receive a bad boot. Don’t be afraid to pull on the Legacy and take the field in confidence.

Sizing: Runs a half size small for me. (Normally 11 1/2 now 12)
