The biggest trend in graphic shoe designs seems to focus on the dragon.
Puma has released its second Graphic boot in as many weeks. Last week we watched Cesc Fabregas debut the evoPOWER Graphic with Chelsea in a win over Manchester United. This weekend Puma evoSPEED players will all debut the new dragon-inspired Graphic 1.3 colorway.
In Japanese mythology, the dragon is the symbol for speed, power, wisdom and agility. This boot combines a graphic dragon element with a reptile-like GripTex technology on the upper for control. GripTex elements also feature inside the heel cup to secure the heel.
The design of this boot stands out very well on its white canvas. The sole and heel cup use a Sea Pine color that matches the Dragon Graphic element and balances the shoe aesthetically. Puma uses a High Risk Red color to accent the shoe on the upper with the dragon, branding elements and the studs.
We have seen a lot of shoes released lately with graphical elements instead of traditional colorways that use patterns and combinations of colors. I find this refreshing and I welcome all creativity that designers can bring to the field. Although the dragon design has been done a few times recently by other brands, this is still a fresh look for the Puma evoSPEED.
Borussia Dortmund Midfielder Marco Reus said: “I am especially a fan of this new upper material with the skin look and feel, and the green of the dragon graphics somehow reminds me of my tattoos, so I like it a lot. I am excited to wear these boots in the next round of the DFB Pokal, fingers crossed they will help me score against Bayern München.”
Check out this video released by Puma. Sergio Aguero and Marco Reus were picked to go 1v1 against each other. Both players style of play exemplify the characteristics of the mythological dragon. Find out who breathes the most fire at this special venue designed by Puma.
